Frequently asked questions
How do I use the app?
Open the app and take your photo or video. After capturing, a folder icon appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen — tap it to file the shot right away.
You can also set a waiting timer in Settings. The timer counts down after each shot and resets automatically if you take another one — so you can shoot a whole series of photos in a row without interruption. Phorder politely waits to make sure you've finished. Once the timer runs out, the alphabet grid appears and you file the entire session in one tap. Shoot as many as you want, then pick your letter.
What is the 7-day trial?
When you first install Phorder, you get a free 7-day trial with full access — no credit card required. After the trial, you can unlock the app permanently for a one-time payment of $9.99. All features are included in a single purchase, no subscriptions or tiers.
How do I browse my Phorder folders?
Tap the folder icon on the main camera screen to open Album Browser. Here you see all your Phorder folders with thumbnails, file count, and total size for each. Tap any folder to open it and browse its contents.
Can I watch videos from a folder?
Yes. Open any folder in Album Browser and tap a video — it plays inline in the full-screen viewer. You can scrub through the timeline and adjust the volume without leaving the app.
Can I preview and inspect photos?
Yes. In Album Browser, tap any photo to open it in a full-screen viewer. Use pinch-to-zoom to inspect the finest details — great for checking focus or reading small text. Swipe left or right to move between photos in the folder without going back to the grid.
How do I rename a photo or video?
Photos: give the photo a short tap to open it in the viewer, then tap the pencil icon in the top-right corner. Type your custom name and save. The original system tag (letter · day · month · year · hour · min · sec · ms) is preserved in the file metadata and is not removed.
Videos: instead of a short tap, press and hold the video thumbnail. The rename option will appear — enter your name and confirm.
How do I share or delete a photo or video?
Inside any folder in Album Browser, tap Select in the top-right corner. Tap the photo(s) or video(s) you want to act on. Buttons for Share and Delete appear at the bottom of the screen — tap the one you need. You can select multiple files at once before tapping.
How do I move a photo to a different folder?
Inside a folder, tap Select, choose the photo(s) you want to move, then tap Move to… and select the destination letter. That's it — instant refile.
Note: iOS will show a system dialog asking whether to remove the photo from the current album. This is a standard iOS message — your photo will not be deleted. It will be moved to the destination folder. Simply confirm to proceed.
How does search work?
Phorder has a search engine at two levels:
App-level search — available from the main Album Browser screen. Search across all your Phorder folders at once by file name. Results show which folder each match belongs to.
Folder-level search — available inside any open folder. Search by file name within that folder only. Useful for finding a specific shot when a folder has many files.
How does sorting work?
Phorder lets you sort at two levels:
App level (Album Browser main screen) — sort your folders by: A–Z (alphabetical by label), Count (number of files), or Size (total storage used).
Folder level (inside an open folder) — sort the files within that folder by: Date, Type (photos vs videos), or Size.
How does the Screenshot Organizer work?
Keep Phorder running in the background — that's all the setup you need. Whenever you take a screenshot anywhere on your phone, Phorder detects it automatically. When you return to Phorder, it shows a prompt: "File this screenshot?" — tap a letter and it's saved to the correct Phorder album. No searching your camera roll needed.
What is Screenshot Marathon?
Screenshot Marathon is a dedicated mode for filing a batch of screenshots in one go. Here's how it works:
1. Tap the camera icon on the main screen to enter Marathon mode.
2. Put Phorder in the background and take as many screenshots as you like — from any app or screen.
3. Return to Phorder. A counter shows the exact number of screenshots waiting.
4. Tap a letter and the entire batch is saved to that folder in one tap. No going through them one by one — the whole backlog files instantly.
I accidentally saved a photo to the wrong letter. What can I do?
Use Photo Migration in Album Browser. Open the folder containing the misplaced photo, tap Select, choose the photo, then tap Move to… and pick the correct letter. Your photo moves instantly with no quality loss.
I paid but the app still shows a paywall. How do I restore?
Tap Restore Purchase on the purchase screen (or in Settings → Restore). Your purchase will be verified through the App Store / Google Play and re-activated on this device. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you used to purchase.
Does Phorder work offline?
Yes, completely. No internet connection is required to take photos, file them, or use any feature. The only time a connection may be needed is when completing the initial purchase.
Do you collect my photos or any personal data?
No. Your photos never leave your device. Phorder has no servers and collects no analytics. See the full Privacy Policy for details.
I switched to a new phone. Do I need to buy again?
No. Your purchase is linked to your Apple ID or Google account. Install the app on the new device and tap Restore Purchase — it will be unlocked at no charge.
The camera doesn't open. What should I do?
Go to your device Settings → Phorder and make sure Camera permission is set to Allow. If it already is, try force-quitting and reopening the app. If the problem persists, contact us below.
Are there ads?
No ads. Ever. Phorder is a one-time purchase with no subscription and no advertising.
